Repertoire and Requirements

Pre-Screening

Majors that require pre-screening recordings/portfolios are marked below with an asterisk (*).

Pre-screening recordings must be video for all performance majors. Selections must be performed without editing. For these recordings, please follow the instructions found here.

Composition, Computer Music, Music for New Media: Film and Game Scoring, and Musicology applicants should submit portfolios and/or essays as outlined. Undergraduate Recording Arts & Sciences double major applicants should submit transcripts for an academic pre-screening.

Pre-screen decisions will be released:

  • Early Decision: shortly before the audition date, about 2 weeks or so
  • Regular Decision: early January, about one month before Audition Week
  • Late Admission (if applicable): first week of May

Pre-screen materials must be uploaded to the Peabody application at the time you submit your application: no later than November 1 for Early Decision, December 1 for Regular Decision, and May 1 for Late Admission.

The Peabody Institute is committed to building a more inclusive, representative repertoire and musical experience for our students, in our curriculum and in the performances we present. For students auditioning on an instrument or voice, and where there is an elective choice in audition requirements, the Peabody Institute encourages applicants to present repertoire by composers who have been historically underrepresented in ethnicity, race, and gender, or to showcase works that reflect your own cultural identity.
