All students applying for entry into the fall 2021 semester must record all pieces in their entirety according to the repertoire requirements below. For further information on audition procedures for the coming year, please click here.

All Applicants

All movements or selections should be recorded in their entirety.

When making your audition video, please answer one of the following three questions:

  • Why are you interested in Peabody?
  • Who is your favorite composer?
  • What is your favorite hobby?

Bachelor of Music

  • Two contrasting movements of unaccompanied Bach. Please omit repeats in the dance movements.
  • One movement from a standard sonata (Brahms, Schubert, Schumann, Shostakovich) or a comparable work
  • One movement from the Bartok, Walton, or Hindemith concertos or a virtuoso movement from a standard classical concerto

Master of Music and Graduate Performance Diploma

The graduate repertoire in viola is patterned after a typical undergraduate senior recital. In order to provide some latitude, the requirements are not dictated. However, you must prepare sufficient material to perform a full solo recital containing works which show a diversity of periods and styles.

Artist Diploma

AD applicants must prepare a program of no less than 70 minutes duration, representing at least three style periods and including at least two large-scale works.

Doctor of Musical Arts

The graduate repertoire in viola is patterned after a typical graduate recital. In order to provide some latitude, the requirements are not dictated. However, you must prepare sufficient material to perform a full solo recital containing works which show a diversity of periods and styles.
