Pre-screening

There is no pre-screening requirement for Bassoon.

Undergraduate

  • Two contrasting etudes from Weissenborn, Milde, or similar study books
  • Two contrasting solo works or movements from a sonata or concerto

Graduate (MM, GPD, DMA)

The graduate repertoire in bassoon is patterned after a typical undergraduate senior recital. In order to provide some latitude, the requirements are not dictated. However, you must prepare sufficient material to perform a full solo recital containing works which show a diversity of periods and styles.

In addition to those general requirements, graduate students should prepare the following:

  • Several contrasting orchestral excerpts of the applicants’ choice
  • Two contrasting solo works

You are urged to perform repertoire which best represents your performance level and musical taste.

Artist Diploma

AD applicants must prepare a program of no less than 70 minutes duration, representing at least three style periods and including at least two large-scale works.
