All student assignments specific to Recording Arts and Sciences (RAS) can be completed in our facilities. However, most students find it convenient to do some assignments on their own laptop using licenses for Pro Tools and plug-in packages provided by Peabody

Strong Recommendation:

While both Mac and Windows-based computers run the applications used in the department, the primary recording studio workstations are Mac-based. If a student is entering with a relatively new Mac or Windows machine, they do not need to purchase something new. However, if buying a new computer for college, a Mac would be our recommendation for convenience in project/file sharing with our studios, and it being generally a more user-friendly operating system when installing and configuring audio software. Furthermore, studio faculty and staff are more experienced with troubleshooting audio applications running on MacOS and thus, better able to provide technical support.
