Mary Shea Kealey Kustas is an aspiring and enthusiastic music educator, conductor, and musician. She recently graduated from the University of Maryland with bachelor’s degrees in both Choral/General Music Education and Voice Performance. While at UMD, she founded Voices for Change, a local treble choir for middle school students, directed classical treble a cappella ensemble Femmes de Chanson, directed and conducted the OperaTerps 2020 season, and served as Choral Representative for UMD’s chapter of NAfME.
Kealey Kustas currently teaches choral and general music at Redland Middle School in Montgomery County. She strives to build a joyful and inclusive choral community that fosters students on their journey to becoming skilled musicians, expressive artists, and open-minded citizens through holding them to high musical standards and engaging with a variety of quality repertoire that is educative as well as culturally responsive.
Ever since she first discovered her love for singing when she joined the Peabody Children’s Chorus as an eight-year-old she has pursued her passion for teaching children to sing. She is thrilled to be appointed Assistant Director for the Peabody Children’s Chorus and to finally come back home.
