Irina Kaplan Lande is trained in the famous tradition of piano playing at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. She has won awards and competitions including the Baltimore Chamber Music Award and the Montpelier Recital Competition.
As an educator, Kaplan Lande has performed and conducted master classes and workshops at Ohio State University, Florida State University, the University of Kansas, University of Georgia, Iowa State University, Brigham Young University, the University of Miami, San Francisco State University, the University of Milan in Italy, and the University of Colima in Mexico, among others.
Her students have participated in numerous statewide competitions and have won competitions like the Maryland State Concerto Competition and Peabody’s Part Recital and Honor Recital Competitions. Several of her students have achieved successful placements at prestigious music schools and universities across the country.
Kaplan Lande is a founding member of the Poulenc Trio, an internationally recognized chamber music ensemble that has performed on major concert stages around the world and in 45 U.S. states.
In recent years, Kaplan Lande has collaborated with such notable artists as Hilary Hahn and Anthony McGill and has performed at festivals including the White Nights Festival in Russia, the Ravello, Amalfi Coast and Alba festivals in Italy, and the San Miguel de Allende Festival in Mexico.
Over the course of her career, Kaplan Lande has championed the performance and promotion of new music, and with the Poulenc Trio has commissioned over twenty new compositions, including three triple concertos.
Kaplan Lande’s recording, Poulenc Plays Poulenc, is available on the Marquis label, and her latest CD, Creation, was released on Delos. She has been featured numerous times in live performance on the nationally-syndicated radio program Performance Today and on programs like Front Row Washington on WETA and Music in Maryland on WBJC.
Kaplan Lande is artistic director of the Candlelight Concert Society in Columbia, Md., where her responsibilities are to conceive and implement the artistic vision for the series by bringing outstanding musicians, maintaining artistic excellence, fostering creative diversity and building the organization’s reputation as an internationally recognized music presenter.
