Doreen Falby received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and a Graduate Artist Diploma (piano) from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She holds a Licentiate (piano) from the Royal Academy of Music and a Postgraduate certificate for teaching music in public schools from St. Andrew’s College of Education, Scotland. Her master’s degrees in both Vocal Music Education and Piano Performance were awarded by Syracuse University. Falby was awarded a Rotary International Fellowship, a Syracuse University Graduate Fellowship, and a Louisiana State University Graduate Assistantship (music theory). She also received the James Friskine memorial prize for solo piano. In 1990, Falby founded and directed the Maryland Children’s Singers (now part of the Peabody Children’s Chorus). She was the 2007 recipient of the Peabody Preparatory’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
The Peabody Children’s Chorus, founded in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1989, brings children together to rehearse and perform art and folk music of multiple cultures, languages, historical periods, and styles.
