Composition Seminar meets weekly on Thursdays in Cohen-Davison Theatre from 5:30 to 7:20 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Composition Seminar is free and open to the public. Each year, Peabody brings in several eminent composers and musicians to give presentations, mostly recently Simon Bainbridge, Oliver Knussen, Louis Andriessen, Peter Sheppard Skærved, Miranda Cuckson, Jason Eckardt, and Ensemble Klang, among others. It is a good opportunity to meet major figures in the field, hear works of theirs that are not commercially available, hear fascinating anecdotes from their lives and careers, and accumulate bits of practical advice and general wisdom. Students enrolled in Composition Seminar are reminded that grading is based on attendance at these seminars, departmental recitals, and large ensemble readings.
