Connor Milstead is a classical guitarist who specializes in traditional classical performance, and pushes forward into experimental and avant-garde modes of expression.
He began his classical guitar studies at the age of eleven with guitarist Douglas Seth and composer-guitarist Rex Willis; in 2017, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance and Music Theory from Florida State University where he studied with the late renowned pedagogue Bruce Holzman. The same year, he was extended the immense privilege of being part of the studio of Manuel Barrueco and in 2019, he was awarded his Master’s degree in Guitar Performance from the Peabody Conservatory.
Milstead has had the honor of performing as a soloist with the Treasure Coast Guitar Society, being featured in several events by the Sarasota, Seven Hills, Baltimore, and Florida State Guitar Societies, as well as performing in master classes led by Pavel Steidl, Judicaël Perroy, David Russell, Fabio Zanon, Paul O’Dette, and many others.
He lives in his hometown of Baltimore, MD, and currently is performing as a duo with his partner, cellist Natalia Vilchis, as part of Duo Dalí, and part of a larger chamber music collective featuring Nicolle Ávila and Agustín Muriago as well. He teaches at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and is also on faculty at the Preparatory division of the Peabody Institute.
