Peabody’s Career Development Grants are designed to support diverse career-enhancing projects and logistical needs for students and recent alumni. See below to learn about each type of Career Development Grant.
We encourage applicants to receive feedback on their applications before submitting. Contact [email protected] or book an appointment to meet with us.
The grants are managed by Peabody LAUNCHPad and directed by the Office of the Dean. Peabody’s Career Development Fund was established in 1986, and these awards are made possible through the generosity of the following donors: Hilda & the late Douglas Goodwin, the Caswell J. & Constance Caplan Charitable Trust, the Eyer Educational Foundation, Malcolm & Loraine Bernstein, Lynne Church, and Peggy & Yale Gordon.
Peabody faculty members are not eligible for student/alumni Career Development Grants. For current Peabody faculty, information about the application process for Faculty Career Development Grants can be found on this page.
Project Grants support entrepreneurial pursuits and projects. Special consideration is given to innovative and self-sustaining projects, especially those with the potential to benefit the wider community. Project Grants can typically be funded up to $2,000.

The following application materials are required:
Upon completion of the project, award recipients will be asked to submit a report form, which will be available in the application portal.
I’ve graduated. Can I still apply?
Yes. Career Development Grants are available to alumni up to two years after graduation.
I received a Career Development Grant in the past. Am I eligible to apply again?
Yes, but only after you have submitted final report for your previous award of the same type. For instance, if you have received a Logistical Grant, you may only apply for another Logistical Grant after completing your previous report. However, you are eligible to apply for a Project Grant, since it is a different grant type.
Are Career Development Grants taxable income?
Yes. All Career Development Grants are taxable income. If you are on payroll at Peabody, taxes will be withheld from your award. If you are not on payroll, you will receive a 1099 at tax time and must report the award on your tax return.
How do I submit my report for a past grant?
If you received a grant prior to October 2024, submit your report at this link. If you received a grant in or after October 2024, your report form is accessible in your original application through the application portal.
