The Peabody saxophone program is geared for those students seeking an intense, performance-driven curriculum in a conservatory setting. My own experience as an active performer has shaped the program. I emphasize solo and chamber ensemble performance. In an average week a saxophone major will have a private lesson, quartet rehearsals, wind ensemble (or orchestra) rehearsals, a weekly repertoire class and perhaps a saxophone ensemble rehearsal. The addition of music theory, ear training, music history, liberal arts classes and, of course, practicing makes for a busy and challenging weekly schedule.
