Private lessons are available for students of any experience background, from complete beginners through advanced levels of study in all disciplines for jazz.

Jazz Ensemble is designed to give students training in the harmonic, melodic, rhythmic, and stylistic concepts of jazz. Ellington, Gershwin, Porter, Basie, Parker, Monk, Davis, Coltrane, Blakey, and many other jazz, blues, swing, and bop selections form the repertoire. All instruments are welcome. Enrollment limits are based on instrumentation distribution. Knowledge of the major scales and technical proficiency are required.

The Jazz Performance Academy brings together highly motivated students in a collaborative and challenging environment to expand their repertoire and nurture the skills of improvisation.

Mikel Combs

Mikel Combs is an acoustic and electric bassist. He has performed and lived in New York, Los Angeles, throughout the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic region, where he currently resides. Mikel regularly records and appears with local, national, and international artists.

Cyrus Mackey

Cyrus Mackey is an American Trumpeter, Composer, and Producer. Growing up in Chicago, he picked up the trumpet in 5th grade, later learning about jazz from his grandfather, who introduced him to artists such as Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Jimmy Smith, and Herbie Hancock.

Saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, and educator Ian Sims performs extensively throughout the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., metro area and along the East Coast, playing in a diverse range of styles.
