In addition to individual instruction, the Preparatory guitar department offers several Guitar Ensembles which provide opportunities for elementary through high school-age classical guitar students to hone musicianship skills and enrich individual learning. Classical guitar students who take lessons outside of the Preparatory are welcome to register for our ensemble; a playing sample or audition is required. All Ensembles perform each semester in the Ensemble Recital as well as the annual Fret Fest.
The Rodrigo and Brouwer Guitar Ensembles meet on alternating Tuesdays at 6:30 pm. Interested students are placed in their appropriate ensemble according to age and experience level. For more information about ensembles at the Towson Branch, please email instructor Dr. James Keretses.
Presti Guitar Ensemble rehearses on Saturdays at noon. This ensemble is for elementary and middle school students who can comfortably play in first position or above, and meets every other week throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Please email instructor Zoë Stewart for more information.
Guitar Performance Academy Ensemble is for Advanced Guitarists in 7th grade or above. This group meets weekly on Thursdays at 6:00pm and has additional community rehearsals and performances outside of regular class time. Entrance is by audition; please visit the Guitar Performance Academy page for more information.
