The Guitar Performance Academy is a program for the most advanced and dedicated classical guitarists at the Preparatory. Guitar students grades 7 – 12 have the opportunity to develop their musicianship and ensemble skills in a supportive, challenging environment. Ideal candidates should practice at least 2 hours per day, maintain excellent attendance and participate in all Guitar Events. Performances will be held throughout the year both at Peabody and in the greater community. There will also be occasional performances requiring travel.

All participants must be registered for 45 or 60 minute lessons at the preparatory in addition to the Performance Academy class.

The class consists of a monthly performance class and two monthly ensemble classes occurring on Thursday evenings. Students in the program have received opportunities to work with guitarists such as Julian Gray, Meng Su and Thomas Viloteau, and have performed at UMBC’s Linehan Hall as part of the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society concert series.

Students must successfully audition for the program before registering for the Performance Academy Class. Auditions for the 2022–23 year will be held May 21, 2022. Please contact your Preparatory instructor for the link to register for the audition.
