The Legacy Circle is an honorary organization of more than 100 alumni, faculty and friends of the Peabody Institute who have chosen to support the mission of the Institute through a charitable bequest or life-income gift. All members of Peabody’s Legacy Circle are also members of the Johns Hopkins Legacy Society. Established in 2012, membership in the Johns Hopkins Legacy Society is extended to all individuals who include The Johns Hopkins University and/or Johns Hopkins Medicine in their estate plans or make a life-income gift to any school, division, department or area of interest. Because a legacy gift represents a lifetime commitment, the Johns Hopkins Legacy Society comprises donors of any age and gift amount.
Donors of life-income gifts, such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts, will be welcomed automatically into the Legacy Circle and the Johns Hopkins Legacy Society following the completion of their gift. Bequest donors may qualify by completing a membership form and/or by providing documentation such as a portion of a will, revocable trust or beneficiary designation form. Bequests can be made with numerous assets, including cash, publicly traded securities, tax-deferred retirement plans, life insurance, real estate and other personal property.
Members will receive exclusive opportunities to engage more fully with the entire Johns Hopkins community and, if they wish, public recognition for their generosity. The Johns Hopkins Legacy Society does not replace existing legacy societies at school/divisional level; donors to an area of Johns Hopkins with its own legacy society will be recognized by both groups.
