New DMA in Historical Performance

The Peabody Conservatory is proud to announce the creation of the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in all historical instruments and voice. Beginning in Fall 2019, students will be able to pursue a Historical Performance DMA in the following areas:

  • Baroque Flute
  • Baroque Lute
  • Baroque Oboe
  • Baroque Viola
  • Baroque Violin
  • Baroque Violoncello
  • Harpsichord
  • Recorder
  • Renaissance Lute
  • Theorbo
  • Viola da Gamba
  • Voice

Performance Opportunities

Students have ample opportunity for performing both as soloists and in ensembles at Peabody and throughout the Baltimore/Washington area. The opportunities include:

  • Peabody Renaissance Ensemble
  • Baltimore Baroque Band
  • Peabody Consort
  • Recorder Consort
  • Viola da Gamba Consort
  • Baroque Chamber Ensembles
  • Baroque Opera
  • Master classes with distinguished faculty and world-renowned guest artists
  • Friday Noon Recital Series featuring different departments throughout the semester
  • Biweekly departmental performance classes
  • Regular community outreach events at churches and synagogues, the Walters Art Museum, etc.
