Peabody offers a robust and comprehensive financial aid program, underscoring our commitment to reducing barriers to world-class training in the performing arts. Ninety percent of our incoming students are recipients of scholarships and financial aid as we work to build a stronger future for the performing arts field that reflects talent from every background.

All students—undergraduate and graduate, domestic and international—are considered for Peabody Merit Scholarships when they apply for admission. Peabody Merit Scholarships are awarded based on the merit and talent of the student and needs of the school to achieve balance across major areas.

In addition, the Peabody Conservatory offers need-based financial aid through a number of Scholarship Programs, including meeting 100% of need for all eligible domestic undergraduate students with no-loan financial aid packages, and—beginning in fall 2025—providing full-tuition scholarships to all admitted DMA students during the two-year full-time residency. Students must complete the appropriate documentation to be considered for need-based financial aid.

Our longstanding practice of need-blind admissions means a family’s financial circumstances do not factor into an admissions decision.

Required Documentation for Need-Based Financial Aid

Undergraduate domestic students (U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents of the U.S., and undocumented and DACA students) who wish to apply for need-based institutional financial aid are required to file both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile.

Graduate domestic students who wish to be considered for federal aid need only submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Domestic DMA students will be required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a supplemental JHU Graduate Financial Aid Application to be eligible for full-tuition DMA scholarship funding.

International students are also eligible for full-tuition DMA scholarship funding and need only complete the JHU Graduate Financial Aid Application.

Appeals for Circumstances

Peabody gives careful consideration to financial aid packages for admitted students based on the strength of the application, the audition, the interview, and the unmet need presented on the student’s FAFSA/CSS Profile. If there are additional circumstances that you would like Peabody to consider due to affordability concerns, contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
