Early Childhood Dance Program (ages 2-6)

The Early Childhood Program for two- to six-year-olds is dedicated to providing equitable dance instruction that embraces the whole child along their journey through the milestones of early development. The three levels of the program are each designed to spark innate creativity, encourage self-awareness, practice teambuilding skills, and form the beginning foundations of technical dance training

Classes and Curriculum

Caregiver & Me (ages 2-3)
One 45-minute class a week
Downtown Baltimore Campus Only

The youngest students are introduced to the joys of dancing in a supportive learning environment while participating in the Caregiver & Me class for entering 2 year olds. This class utilizes kinetic attunement and movement expressivity between an adult caregiver and child through play, song, dance and use of props. Children and caregivers are both encouraged to use dance as a vehicle of communication and expression in this class.

Available locations: Downtown Baltimore, Towson, and McDonough

This level is designed to set a strong foundation for more formal dance study by strengthening movement/locomotive skills and flexibility. Both classes encourage that students work collaboratively in a welcoming learning environment to practice rhythmic awareness, social engagement, and self-expression through group improvisation. Students take class independently for 60 minutes and are required to wear a uniform.

Available locations: Downtown Baltimore, Towson, and McDonough

This level is designed to approach the basic fundamentals of beginner ballet training (placement, port de bras, footwork, and simple vocabulary) with an emphasis on practicing body alignment and ballet combinations. Both classes operate within an integrative learning environment that utilizes ballet training as a vehicle of imagination, creativity, mindfulness, and self-actualization. Students take class independently for 60 minutes and are required to wear a uniform.

Studio Sharing and Performance Opportunities
All students in both of our Creative Dance and Introduction to Ballet levels participate in our year-end dance celebration on April 28, 2024. This celebration allows students and families the opportunity to share a day of dance together and commemorate the school year. Introduction to Ballet 2 students are eligible to participate in the Preparatory Dance Department’s year-end performance that will be held on May 19, 2024.
