The Student Engagement team is pleased to sponsor a range of annual traditions that foster Peabody pride on campus. Week of Welcome, Late Night Breakfast, Peabody Palooza, and the Georgie Awards all serve as celebrations of the achievements of the academic year.
Peabody Palooza
Peabody Palooza is our annual end of the year spring fair meant to give students a chance to end their semester on a high note! Featuring music, carnival games, and food, Palooza provides students an opportunity to decompress during finals season stress and enjoy the company of their peers outside of rehearsals and class.
Georgie Awards
The Peabody Georgie Awards are our annual student leadership awards devoted to reflecting on the great work of our student community. In celebration of the end of the academic year, we recognize those organizations, programs, and individuals that went above and beyond in student leadership and engagement.
Selection:
The following awards are selected by a committee of faculty and staff across Peabody:
Civic Engagement Award, Outstanding Student Leader, Community Connectivity Award, Champion of Multiculturalism, Mental Health Ally Award, Emerging Student Organization of the Year, Outstanding Student Organization of the Year, Peabody Rising Star, Advisor of the Year, and the Student Program of the Year.
The following award will be selected by Dean Fred Bronstein:
Dean’s Award for Leadership
Detailed descriptions of each of the awards can be found on Hopkins Groups. If you have questions about the award selection process or wish to be considered to sit on the selection committee, please email the Office of Student Affairs.
Week of Welcome
The first week of classes each Fall are referred to as the “Week of Welcome.” This tradition celebrates the return of the Peabody student body for the academic year. Students can look forward to Spirit Day, giveaways, and a Baltimore Bucket List Challenge to ring in the new school year.
Late Night Breakfast
The Student Affairs team knows that finals season is a time of elevated stress levels and late nights. In a show of support for our hardworking students, Peabody Student Affairs hosts Late Night Breakfast in the cafeteria each semester during finals week. Students can stay late into the evening to study or to decompress with friends while Peabody staff and faculty serve omelets, pancakes, and other breakfast favorites.
