The Peabody Institute is fully committed to creating and sustaining a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion by acknowledging, embracing, and engaging diverse identities, perspectives, traditions, and experiences across all of its programming and audiences. By making diversity one of the five central pillars of our strategic Breakthrough Plan, Peabody has defined for itself a goal of leading change across the performing arts industry.

Institute leadership is fully committed to the critical anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives outlined in the Building on the Breakthrough strategic plan and as part of Johns Hopkins University’s Roadmap on Diversity and Inclusion, as well as other ongoing and new programs and efforts, many of which are outlined below.

This work is further supported by the Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Steering Committee, an advisory committee providing accountability and collective recommendations. The foundation for our ongoing work in this area was laid between 2016 and 2018 by the Peabody Diversity Pathway Task Force, comprised of faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

EXPANDING ACCESS

We are investing in financial aid to reduce barriers to a Peabody Conservatory education for talented student-artists from a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Read more about our commitment to access here and here.
