Pre-Screening
All cellists must upload a pre-screening video containing 10-15 minutes of music from the audition repertoire listed below for your chosen degree program.

Audition Repertoire
Bachelor of Music
- A movement of a concerto from standard literature or 5-10 minutes of an equivalent piece such as Schelomo or Rococo Variations.
- Prelude plus one other movement from an unaccompanied suite by Bach.
- One etude from one of the following: Duport 21 Etudes, Popper High School of Cello Playing, Piatti 12 Caprices
Master of Music & Graduate Performance Diploma
- Two contrasting movements of a concerto from standard literature or equivalent piece such as Schelomo or Rococo Variations.
- A prelude plus one other movement from an unaccompanied suite by Bach.
- A shorter piece of your choice or a complete movement from a sonata or larger work, which shows a stylistic or personal musical interest.
Doctor of Musical Arts
- Complete major concerto from the romantic period to the present, or equivalent piece such as Schelomo or Rococo Variations.
- 1st movement of Haydn Concerto in C or D, including cadenza.
- A complete unaccompanied suite by Bach.
- Choice of any complete sonata or solo piece.
- Any additional work from the late 20th or 21st century.
Artist Diploma
AD applicants must prepare a program of no less than 70 minutes duration, representing at least three style periods and including at least two large-scale works. To meet this requirement, please follow the repertoire outline for the DMA listed above.
Recorded Audition Guidelines
If, after passing the pre-screen, an invited applicant is unable to attend the auditions in person and qualify for a recorded audition, they may follow these guidelines for a recorded audition:
- Please submit the Bach requirements in their entirety (omitting repeats in the dance movements)
- Please submit 3-5 minutes from all other repertoire selections.
