Open by audition to all members of the community

Comprised of graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and community members from across the Peabody Conservatory, Johns Hopkins University, and Greater Baltimore, the Peabody Hopkins Conservatory Choir explores and performs works from the past six centuries, with an emphasis on choral-orchestral repertoire in collaboration with the Peabody orchestras and guest artists.

60-100 voices, SATB. Open to all Peabody/JHU students, faculty, staff, and members of the Baltimore Community. Auditions held at the start of each semester. Please contact the Peabody Ensemble Office for more information.

Auditions

Auditions for Fall Semester 2024 are now closed.

No preparation is needed for the audition. You will be asked to:

  1. Sing a melody that is familiar (ex. Amazing Grace or Happy Birthday)
  2. Vocalize to the top and bottom of your range
  3. Perform tonal memory exercises
  4. Sight-read music

Auditions will be held in Dr. Beth Willer’s office next to Joe Byrd Hall and are expected to take approximately 10 minutes. Street parking is available or you may park in the Peabody garage for a fee.

Admission into the Peabody Hopkins Conservatory Choir (PHCC) is by audition and members are required to have basic musical skills for admission including the ability to match pitch and familiarity with western musical notation. Audition decisions may also be made based on the need to have well-balanced choral sections.
