Duo Silvio, the baroque lute duo of faculty artist Richard Stone and Cameron Welke (MM ’20, Lute) performs the Dresden Lute Duets of 18th-century lute composer and virtuoso Silvius Leopold Weiss, whose work has borne frequent comparison to that of his friend, J.S. Bach. With one exception, all of Weiss’s ensemble music survives in an incomplete state: one lute part only for each work. Richard Stone’s reconstructions of the missing lute parts center four of Weiss’s duets on this program.
