Percussion Collective

Percussion Collective

Veteran performer, educator, and faculty artist Robert van Sice formed the Percussion Collective in 2018 as an ensemble crucible for expanding contemporary percussion repertoire, recruiting a rotating cast of exceptional percussionists for its lineup. The ensemble closely collaborates with composers to create unique concert experiences, and for this week’s Peabody Performance Series in Washington, D.C., the Percussion Collective includes one of its immersive multimedia works in an eclectic program. The Collective—which includes faculty artists Ji Su Jung (BM ’16, GPD ’17, Percussion) and Jeff Stern (MM ’14, Percussion), Makana Medeiros, Mingyu Son (BM ’22, Percussion), Svet Stoyanov (BM ’03, GPD ’05, Percussion), and Michael Yeung for this performance, under the artistic direction of van Sice—performs Garth Neustadter’s Seaborne for six percussionists and video projection, Alejandro Viñao’s Stress & Flow for percussion quartet and electronics, and Astor Piazzolla’s mellifluous Le Grand Tango arranged by Neustadter for percussion ensemble.
