Procaccini, Dvořák, and Brahms
The Peabody Symphony Orchestra offers this week a concert of music for chamber orchestra specifically selected for the unique performance qualities and acoustics of the George Peabody Library and featuring guest conductor Simeone Tartaglione (GPD ’09, Conducting). Tartaglione, Music Director of the Newark Symphony Orchestra, leads the PSO through three works that showcase the colorful timbre and emotional range of an orchestra’s strings: Italian composer Teresa Procaccini’s American Dance; Antonín Dvořák’s popular Serenade in E Major for String Orchestra, Op. 22; and Johannes Brahms’ Serenade No. 2, Op. 16.
