As the 2024 winner of Peabody’s Harrison Winter Piano competition, Jun Hwi Cho, currently a DMA candidate in the studio of HieYon Choi, is the featured soloist when Marin Alsop, director of the Graduate Conducting program, leads the Peabody Symphony Orchestra through Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Also on the program are Carlos Simon’s Fate Now Conquers, an alluringly agitated work that evokes destiny’s unpredictability, and Bela Bartók’s colorful evocation of urban hustle and bustle, The Miraculous Mandarin.
