Explore the unknown reaches of space with the World Premiere of Baltimore-based composer Alexandra Gardner’s (MM ’97, Composition) new saxophone concerto – Time Unfolding. Featuring the virtuosic playing of our own Doug O’Connor, the piece explores recent discoveries of NASA’s James Webb Telescope and looks back in time at the formation of the early universe. Additional “stellar” selections include works by Biebl, Bremer, Buchanan, Holst, and MacTaggert. 

There will be a pre-concert talk with Alexandra Gardner, Doug O’Connor, and conductor Tim Holtan beginning at 2:30 pm.
