Eighteen Peabody students and alumni premiere current master’s student Antonio Sanz Escallón’s thirty-minute chamber opera The Death of Alexander Scriabin. Tenor Jason Gonzalez (MM ’24, Voice) premieres the title role of the Russian composer and mystic, as he obsesses over realizing a seven-day long apocalyptic ceremony while his physical condition worsens. Sopranos Cassie Dixon (MM ’24, Voice) and Sophia Sorrentino perform the role of his wife Tatiana. Claire Lewis leads an ensemble of thirteen instrumentalists, featuring electronics designed and performed by composer Alex Wu. Performances are February 6 and 8 at 8:00 pm in Joe Byrd Hall.
