More than 150 years old, the Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall is Peabody’s main performance venue and has hosted everything from orchestral concerts to graduation ceremonies, piano recitals to dance camps. In 2016, the first phase of renovations was completed to correct acoustical issues and extend the front of the stage. In summer 2025, work has begun on a more comprehensive initiative addressing lighting, electrical, and acoustical systems and stage upgrades.

The extensive work to modernize the technology and infrastructure of the Conservatory’s original lecture hall will improve the rehearsal and performance environment for students and faculty as well as concertgoers and guests.

During the 2025-26 academic year and concert season, while Friedberg Hall is closed for renovation, Peabody concerts and events will continue to take place in other halls on campus as well as venues in the wider Baltimore and Washington, DC, communities. Friedberg Hall is expected to reopen in spring 2026.
