Online Campus

Baltimore BeatLab is a 2-week program that offers three levels of Digital Audio Workstation instruction, composition techniques, and daily guest lectures led by DJ’s, producers, beatmakers, and electronic music composers.

During Week 1, students will attend in-person and learn the fundamentals of live recording, arrangement, studio engineering, sound design, and production. The coursework will be project-based, which will give students an opportunity to record themselves with the intent to create finalized products by the end of the week.

During Week 2, students will attend virtually and learn the fundamentals of post-production including mixing, mastering, sampling, and other creative production techniques. This coursework is not cumulative with the first week, but students are welcome to carry over the work created during the first week into this session. Students will collaborate with each other in small groups each day. The coursework will be project-based, which will give students an opportunity to record themselves and refine their work with the intent to present their work at a final listening party on the last day.

Note: if your child is under 12 and would like to participate, please contact us at peabodyprep@jhu.edu.
