Ignite your child’s love for music at the Peabody Summer Guitar Institute’s Youth Track, a five-day summer immersion into the world of classical guitar, designed for budding Suzuki and classical guitarists aged 6-12.
Led by renowned Peabody Preparatory faculty and esteemed guest artists, this immersive program welcomes participants into a world of musical exploration, collaboration, and joyful discovery. In a supportive, nurturing environment, your child will refine essential skills and techniques, including music theory and reading notation, while fostering lasting friendships and ensemble skills through collaborative learning experiences. The invaluable experience of performing enhances their stage presence, laying a solid foundation for future musical endeavors.
Here’s what the Youth Track offers your child
- Immersive Daily Learning: Focused sessions from 9:00 am, complemented by optional 7:00 pm performances by world-class artists.
- Technique Boot Camp: Daily sessions with expert faculty and guest artists to build a solid foundation and refine guitar skills.
- Personalized Guidance: One-on-one private lessons tailored to individual needs and goals, accelerating progress and boosting confidence.
- Exploring New Musical Worlds: Engaging workshops on diverse topics like guitar history, improvisation, and Brazilian guitar music to expand musical horizons.
- Collaborative Experiences: Playing in small ensembles and a large guitar orchestra to develop valuable social and musical skills.
- Baltimore Exploration and Fun: Fun field trips to destinations like the Maryland Science Center, plus daily downtime for relaxation, socializing, and games.
- Incredible Concerts: Inspiring 7:00 pm performances by renowned artists (Meng Su, João Luiz, Junhong Kuang) and our talented faculty. Family members are welcome to attend these concerts.
- Showcase Opportunities: A culminating student concert and a special community performance to build confidence and gain experience.
Who Should Attend
- Classical guitarists aged 6-12: We welcome young guitarists of all skill levels seeking an inspiring and supportive learning environment.
- Seekers of a focused, fun, and enriching musical experience: This camp provides a comprehensive learning environment where students develop their skills, make friends, and discover the joy of music.
- Young guitar enthusiasts eager to improve: Students at every skill level will flourish under the tutelage of our experienced faculty.
Tuition
- Commuter: $1135 – includes tuition ($950) and 3 meals/day ($185); registration fee of $25 waived until June 1. Students can be dropped off by 8:00 am. Dinner is served at 5:00 pm, supervised games until the concert begins at 7:00 pm.
- Resident: $1460 – includes tuition ($950), 3 meals/day ($185), and 5 nights accommodations in Peabody student housing ($325). Registration fee of $25 waived until June 1. Limited single rooms available; most students will have a roommate. Your child can enjoy a sleep-away camp experience in Peabody student housing!
