Peabody Dance offers a variety of weekly group classes throughout the summer session as well as the Summer Dance Intensive and the Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Intensive.

Summer Dance Intensive

Friday, June 21 to Friday, July 19, 2019
4 weeks, Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
For ages 7 to young adult
A challenging, full-day dance program for students of all levels – from promising beginners to highly-motivated professional aspirants.

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Intensive

Sunday, July 22 to Saturday, August 4, 2018
Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Saturdays 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
For ages 13-25 (junior and senior intensive groups)
Taylor Intensives have been the premiere training ground for modern dance technique and the best way to study Taylor style and repertoire. The Intensives have achieved distinction by virtue of outstanding faculty members – distinguished Taylor dancers and alumni – and the exceptional personal attention given to each student. Come learn from the masters at Peabody Dance!


Summer Guitar Intensive

For students from junior high to college age
An intensive week-long festival including workshops, master classes and faculty recitals for high school, college, and adult students.


Glissando Summer Harp Festival

Monday, June 18 to Friday, June 22, 2018
9:45 am – 3:30 pm
A one-week intensive harp program designed to assist in developing harpists through the exploration of ensemble performance, stage presence and harp maintenance. Enrichment activities, rehearsals and coachings will culminate with all students performing on the last afternoon of the program.


Peabody Piano Week

Sunday, July 14 to Saturday, July 20, 2019

For students from junior high through college age
An intensive weeklong festival for piano students from junior high through college age. Participating students will study with a member of the faculty, attend master classes, a “Musicianship for Pianists” course, and have daily practice time.

Piano at Peabody

Sunday, July 14 to Saturday, July 20, 2019
9:00 am – 8:30 pm
For adult piano students of all skill levels
A weeklong celebration of all things piano for those pursuing piano as an adult! Guided by faculty artists, participants learn from lectures, master classes, and daily faculty recitals. A personal coaching session, optional duet adventures, jazz labs, and longer individual lessons (separate fee required) are available as well. The week closes in a festive participant recital (performance optional)!


Allegro Strings

1 or 2 weeks, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Provides a week of intensive music and enrichment classes. Group classes in violin, viola, and cello, and orchestra are offered for ages 6-12. Presented by the Young People's String Program.

Chamber Week

Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2, 2019 (Towson)
9:00 am – 5:00 pm
An intensive five-day program that includes chamber playing and orchestral playing for middle school to high school students.


Classical Singers Workshop

Wednesday, June 19 to Sunday, June 23, 2019

For high school and college students
This weeklong workshop is filled with useful information essential to every aspiring classical singer. Besides daily voice work and coachings, numerous classes are offered. Everyone will perform in a recital on the last day of the session.

Summer Vocal Academy

This one-week intensive program is designed for singers in middle to high school to experience the professional discipline of preparing American/English art songs as well as poetry for a performance.

Creative Composition and Improvisation Intensive

Monday, August 11 to Friday, August 17, 2018
3:00 pm – 7:00 pm
For wind, brass, string, and percussion students, ages 9 to 18
A one-week summer intensive focusing on creative composition and improvisation. Students will compose new music as a group, learn how to improvise in diverse genres, and develop stage presence as performers.
