Margarita Loukachkina began her studies at the age of five with Tatiana Shcklovskaya at Russia’s prestigious Gnessin School of Music in Moscow. Since then she has performed extensively and has been a laureate of numerous international competitions in Europe and the U.S. Her most recent achievements include the performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, winning the Baltimore Music Club competition, and receiving third prize in the Louisiana International Piano Competition. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree under Alexander Shtarkman at the Peabody Conservatory, and holds a graduate assistantship in music theory there.
