At the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, students have the opportunity to join student organizations both at the Homewood campus of JHU and here on the Peabody Campus. Peabody offers a number of established student organizations, and Peabody students have the opportunity to create their own organization if one pertaining to their interests does not already exist.

For student organizations at the Peabody Conservatory to be officially recognized, they must register each academic year and provide both contact information and supporting documentation to the Office of Student Engagement, housed within the Office of Student Affairs. The annual registration process is currently under review and updated information will be provided in mid Spring 2020.

Organization Requirements:

In order to be recognized at the Peabody Conservatory, organizations must meet the following requirements and provide the following documentation:

  • Have a minimum of five members
  • Identify an advisor, which may be a faculty or staff member
  • Identify their executive board, one member of which will be a representative to the Peabody Student Organization Council (PSOC)
  • Provide a description of the purpose of the organization
  • Provide a copy of the guiding document for the organization. If one does not already exist, guidelines for establishing a guiding document can be found here.

Student organizations must be inclusive. Student organizations should make the necessary arrangements to make their events welcoming for students with disabilities. In order to promote accessibility of student events, please include the University’s accessibility statement on all electronic and print publications.

“This event is open to all without regard to gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status or other legally protected characteristic.”

For more information regarding accessibility, you can contact the Office of Student Affairs at peabodystudentaffairs@jhu.edu or 667-208-6700.
