Description
The Inspired Aging Fellowship is a competitive, paid training program for graduate and undergraduate students who seek to develop their interest and skills in artistic enrichment in the lives of older adults. Throughout the academic year, IA Fellows learn how to employ best practices in arts administration, strategic partnership cultivation, and the development and delivery of arts programming specifically created for audiences over the age of 65.
Inspired Aging Fellows spend approximately 5-7 hours a week performing administrative duties, developing and delivering programs and receiving ongoing training in senior focused community engagement initiatives.
The Inspired Aging Fellowship focuses on the following areas of study:
- Strategic Partnership Development: IA Fellows will work closely with the Community Engagement Office in researching and cultivating new partnerships as well as supporting and growing existing partnerships
- Program Development: IA Fellows will research and develop engaging artistic activities for a variety of senior audiences including watch parties, classes, presentations, creative composition and interactive performances
- Program Delivery: IA Fellows will assist in the delivery of programs specifically crafted for and requested by Inspired Aging partner communities
- Arts Administration: IA Fellows will execute administrative tasks including communications, program evaluation and assessment, reporting and documentation
- Professional Development: IA Fellows will attend bi-monthly meetings and learn from guest artists, industry professionals and specialists
- Networking: IA Fellows will participate in national meetings and assist in the development of the Collegiate Music Outreach Network Creative Aging Student Subcommittee
Eligibility and Requirements
- Good academic standing and previous experience in community engagement programs or activities
- High level of responsibility, professionalism and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to take direction and collaborate well with students, faculty, staff, and community partners
- Experience working and performing in community contexts
- Strong skills in audience engagement and interactive performance
- A sincere interest in seniors and social development and the arts
