Kate Harpootlian is a professional dancer, choreographer and contemporary teacher. She started her training at the Columbia City Jazz Dance Company under the direction of Dale Lam. Having performed in numerouas countries with CCJC, Harpootlian graduated and moved to New York City. She studied under Jason Parsons, Heather Lang, Anneke Hansen, and Shen Wei Dance Arts. Her work credits include Shaping Sound Dance Company, JLO AMA’s, Carrie Underwood’s “Something in the Water,” Dancing with the Stars, Merce Cunningham’s Inlets II, Boardwalk Empire, Ellen, SYTYCD Season 12, Billy Bell’s Lunge Dance Collective, the Unbrunch, works by Jason Parsons, and In The Heights.
In 2016 she was the runner up at the Capezio Ace awards for choreography and was given the opportunity to premiere her work “Better Late Than Never” at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center, which was later brought to Jacob’s Pillow’s Inside Out Festival. Her choreography credits include Insitu Site Specific Festival, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, Martha Graham Next Wave Festival, Steps Performance Lab, Lindenwood University, John Hopkins Peabody Conservatory, as well as assistant choreographer on the Netflix series “Westside” and The Wrong Man at MCC Theatre.
Harpootlian is also a director and screenwriter studying at The New School. She has made numerous films and has been a finalist in the Vail Film Festival Screenplay competition and the Filmatic Short Screenplay Awards. She’s excited to continue telling stories in many different mediums.
