Geoffrey Wright earned a BA from Kalamazoo College, followed by an MM and DMA from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University. Wright studied composition with Morris Cotel, Jean Eichelberger Ivey, Gunther Schuller, and Vladimir Ussachevsky.
During his career, Wright became a Fromm Composition Fellow at Tanglewood, and also completed MIT computer music studies with Barry Vercoe. Wright is currently a faculty member and director of Computer Music at Goucher College, as well as director of Computer Music and the Computer Music Consort at the Peabody Conservatory. Wright’s compositions for various media, including orchestral and chamber music, dance and video, have been performed in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Wright hasd been listed in Who’s Who in American Music and served as artistic director of Peabody’s millennium music for TimesSquare2000.
