The Peabody String Sinfonia is a student-run, conductorless string orchestra whose mission is to bring healing and beauty to people in our Baltimore community who are in challenging situations.

The spirit of this project is to bring healing and beauty to people in our Baltimore community who are in challenging and often despairing situations, such as cancer treatment, incarceration, homelessness, addiction and hunger through beautiful and compelling music for string orchestra. The members are Peabody Conservatory of Music students, faculty and alumni who have volunteered for this project.

It is a chance for our students to experience what the power of music can bring to such places and to enhance their appreciation of what it means to be a musician in the larger world beyond the conservatory and concert hall. This project is truly all about the music, so the focus will be on bringing the most beautiful string ensemble repertoire, prepared and performed at the highest level, to these communities.
