The Peabody Conservatory is proud to host a demographic of students from all over the world. Admission requirements are the same for all applicants regardless of citizenship; however, there are some additional procedures to keep in mind.
All applicants are required to submit original transcripts. We will not accept hard copy transcripts during the application process. They must be uploaded to your application. If you are accepted to Peabody, we will ask you to request that your school send a hard copy, final transcript before orientation. When submitting your transcripts with your application, these documents should include:
If your school does not teach courses in English or it is not an officially-recognized language in your home country, you must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score with your application. Score requirements are the same across all degree programs. For admissions into Peabody, we look for a score of 79 or higher for the TOEFL, and a score of 6.5 or higher for the IELTS. You may submit your scores directly with your application but should also plan on having a hard copy of your score report mailed to the Peabody Admissions office so that they can be verified. If we do not have an official test score for you by November 1st for early decision, February 1st for regular admission, or April 15th for late auditions, your application will be considered “incomplete” and we will be unable to make an admission decision. Our TOEFL code number is 5532.
For more information about required documents and how to apply to your desired degree program, please visit our application instructions page.
If you have opted to take a live audition at Peabody, you will receive a confirmation of your audition date and time via email in late December or early January for February auditions. Auditions for Early Decision will have a shorter notification period. This notification will include a downloadable PDF copy of your invitation that you can take to a US Consular Post to obtain your B-2 Visa.
If you are living outside of the US, depending on your degree and instrument area you may be eligible to participate in a recorded audition or our USA Schools of Music in Asia tour. Please visit the following pages for more information and to see if you are eligible to participate in this format:
