Peabody’s admissions policy regarding home schooled applicants is biased heavily toward an applicant’s level of musical performance. At the same time, we are a Maryland school and must comply with state regulations. The following official policy meets both needs:

• In order to be an entering student at a college in the state of Maryland, an applicant must be a graduate of an accredited high school.
• In lieu of a high school diploma, an applicant can qualify with a high school equivalency certificate or diploma (GED).
  • Home schooled applicants are encouraged to submit the GED in lieu of a high school degree.
• Without a high school degree or GED, Peabody will consider musically acceptable applicants for admission on a case by case basis.

Applicants must show evidence of their ability to do college-level academic work. The following forms of evidence will be considered:

• A transcript or other documentation from an accredited home schooling agency that the applicant has satisfactorily completed the equivalent of a high school degree program.
  • Any such submission must include the name of the accrediting body.
• SAT,  ACT, and/or other standardized test scores.
• Results from Peabody placement tests.
• Transcripts from a college or university showing completion of credit-level courses.
