August 27 through August 29, 2018

Assigned audition dates and times for the Peabody-Hopkins Chorus and the Peabody Singers for the 2018-2019 academic year are posted on the placement audition master schedule.

Voice majors are scheduled for 15-minute audition time slots, and should prepare two selections of their choice that best demonstrate their abilities. Non-voice majors are scheduled for eight minute audition time slots, and should prepare one selection of their choice (this can be anything from “Happy Birthday” to “We Are the Champions”). The auditions are heard by Edward Polochick, Director of Choral Activities, and include brief ear-training and sight-singing tests in addition to each student’s prepared selections. Everyone should bring two copies of their selections with them to the audition (unless you’re singing “Happy Birthday”). Mr. Polochick will also be the accompanist for the auditions, which will be held in his office, adjacent to Joe Byrd Hall. Any other interested students who would like to participate in the choral program should contact the chorus manager, Ryan Tani, to arrange an audition time. Students should arrive at the check-in table located in the grand arcade at least 15 minutes before their scheduled audition time.

Students must fill out an online Choral Audition Placement Form before their audition.

Students in the following degree programs and years of study have choral requirements:

  • Voice and Organ – Freshman, Sophomore, Junior
  • Piano, Guitar, and Composition – Sophomore, Junior
  • Computer Music – Junior
  • First-year Graduate Composition – 1st year of residency
