This one-week intensive program is designed for singers in middle to high school to experience the professional discipline of preparing Italian/English art songs as well as poetry for a performance. Our specialty is the exploration of the art song as a fusion of poetry and music. Focus on vocal technique, vocal performance, English diction for singers, vowel placement, acting, poetry, singer’s breathing and resonance, musicianship, pilates for singers, and dress rehearsal. The program culminates in a concert of art songs and poems on the last day of the academy.
Open to voice students in middle to high school who have studied classical voice technique and art songs privately, and who wish to develop their vocal performance skills. SVA students are accepted by audition only.
Completed registration is due by Monday, May 7, 2018. Minimum of six students. Students applying after this date will be considered if space allows.
2017 Tuition: $600 prior to application deadline
$630 after the application deadline (depending upon availability)
