Soo-Youn Chung, a native of Seoul, Korea, began her piano study at the age of five.  In her native country, she appeared as a soloist with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, The following year she performed with Sun-Hwa Symphony Orchestra. In 1997 she was presented in a debut recital. In 2002 she performed with the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. As a chamber player, she has won prizes which have sent her to Japan and Finland.

Chung was chosen to be a member of the first class of the newly founded Korean National University of Arts from which she graduated.  Having received the Master of Music degree and Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory of Music, she is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Musical Arts.  During her first year at the Conservatory, she won the Harrison Winter Concerto Competition and played with Peabody Concert Orchestra.  She is a student of Ellen Mack. and she is a member of piano faculty at Peabody Preparatory.
