Katherine Swaydis Aiken earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin College Conservatory and a Master of Music Degree from Michigan State University. An advocate for music education, Aiken was selected to be Professor of Horn for the Asociacion Nacional de Conciertos de Panama Youth Music Camp while completing her undergraduate degree. Inspired by the program in Panama, Aiken knew she wanted to continue teaching and went on to pursue music education at the Longy School of Music, where she earned a Masters of Arts in teaching. Aiken has been a scholarship recipient at several summer music programs including the Aspen, Atlantic, and Sarasota Music Festivals. She has had the opportunity to substitute with the Chautauqua (NY), Lansing, Ann Arbor, Plymouth (MI), and Kankakee Valley (IL) Symphony orchestras. Currently, Aiken teaches elementary instrumental music for Baltimore County Public Schools.
