Karen Seward is a music educator in the Baltimore County Public Schools in Maryland, teaching band and orchestra at Timber Grove and Randallstown Elementary Schools. She also serves as Symphonic Band director and percussion coach with American Music Abroad, an honor band and choir program that tours throughout Europe in the summer. Seward is a faculty member with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s ORCHKids program, and serves as adjunct music faculty at Carroll Community College. At the Peabody Preparatory, she conducts the Wind Band as well as teaching the Snare Drum and Beginning Musicianship classes. Seward has also served as a percussion technician with the award winning Westminster High School Marching Band and has previously taught percussion with the Levine School of Music’s summer music program. She is a classically trained percussionist, holding Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in music education from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Seward is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, the professional fraternity for women of music.
