08/28/2015 - Marin Alsop Appointed Director of Graduate Conducting at Peabody
Maestra Marin Alsop will lead the graduate conducting program at the Peabody Conservatory. Music director of the Baltimore Symphony, Ms. Alsop is recognized for her deep commitment to education and her gift for communicating with and building audiences.
05/12/2015 - Jessye Norman to Receive Peabody Medal
One of the most accomplished artists of the century, soprano Jessye Norman will be the 2015 recipient of the George Peabody Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Music in America.
03/19/2015 - Marin Alsop, Peabody Symphony Orchestra to Record Kevin Puts’ Works for Naxos
Pulitzer-Prize winning composer and Peabody Conservatory faculty artist Kevin Puts will be featured on a new recording by the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and conductor Marin Alsop, music director of the BSO and a member of Peabody’s conducting faculty.
02/24/2015 - Peabody Opera Theatre Performs The Abduction from the Seraglio at the Lyric
The Peabody Opera Theatre returns to the Patricia & Arthur Modell Performing Arts Center at the Lyric for two performances of Mozart’s first great hit comedy, Die Entführung aus dem Serail on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8.
02/18/2015 - Peabody Dance Celebrates Centennial Year
Peabody Dance welcomes outstanding alumni, guest artists, and scholars in the field to Baltimore for its Centennial Celebration. The centerpiece of the weekend celebration is a March 28 performance which highlights Peabody Dance’s history.
02/06/2015 - Fret Festival Celebrates the Guitar at Peabody
A concert by world-renowned guitarists SoloDuo headlines the Peabody Preparatory’s sixth annual Fret Festival, which welcomes guitar enthusiasts to learn and perform together, on March 1.
02/02/2015 - Peabody Chamber Opera Presents U.S. Premiere of Mansfield Park
The Peabody Chamber Opera will present the U.S. premiere of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park, with the composer and librettist in attendance. Four performances will be staged at Baltimore’s Theatre Project —Thursday to Sunday, February 12 to 15.
01/27/2015 - Cellist Amit Peled Re-Creates Pablo Casals Recital at Peabody
Amit Peled pays homage to the legendary cellist Pablo Casals on February 12, performing the same program – on the same cello – that Casals played at Peabody 100 years earlier. The concert celebrates Peabody Founder’s Day and will be live-streamed.
10/30/2014 - Peabody Conservatory to Offer DMA Fellowships Beginning Fall 2015
The Peabody Conservatory will offer new fellowships to Doctor of Musical Arts students starting fall of 2015. The Dean’s DMA Fellowships will be awarded to up to three new DMA students who demonstrate excellence in both academics and musical performance.
10/20/2014 - Acclaimed Cellist Zuill Bailey Performs With Peabody Symphony Orchestra
Peabody alumnus Zuill Bailey will be the soloist with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, October 25, at 8:00 pm. The Society of Peabody Alumni will present Bailey with the Johns Hopkins University Distinguished Alumnus Award at this concert.
