The Office of Financial Aid offers short-term loans to full-time students for the purpose of paying emergency, non-recurring expenses. Such expenses may include rent payments, emergency travel expenses, instrument repairs, and other unexpected bills. These loans are available in amounts up to $300 and are expected to be repaid within 30 days of disbursement. If payment is not received within 30 days, the debt will be applied to the recipient’s student account and transcripts and/or diplomas may be withheld as needed.

Students wishing to borrow an emergency loan must submit a completed application (available in our office) to the Office of Financial Aid. If approved for the loan, the student will be issued a Petty Cash Voucher which can be taken to the basement of Garland Hall on the Homewood Campus and exchanged for a cash sum.
