Sylvia Betts Dodd

Sylvia Betts Dodd graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Music 35 years ago last May, and she has never stopped being an active and enthusiastic supporter of her school.

From her work with Mu Phi Epsilon and the Peabody Alumni Association to her membership on the Alumni Steering Committee and her present involvement with the Peabody Archives, she has willingly given the Institute many hours of her very limited free time.

While she was a member of the Peabody Women’s Board, her knowledge of the inner workings of this institution, and her appreciation of the unique nature of a music conservatory, were traits highly valued by that Board.

She was always the first to volunteer for assignments when difficult projects were undertaken, and she was one of Peabody’s best advocates by convincing the Board to take on programs of special need to Peabody and its students.

The Alumni Association is truly blessed to have someone of Sylvia’s inexhaustible energy and solid dependability working for us for so many years.

AND SO, for her years of devoted service to the Peabody Conservatory, it gives me great pleasure, as President of the Peabody Chapter of The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association, to present to our own Sylvia Betts Dodd the Johns Hopkins Heritage Award.
