The Heritage Award honors alumni and friends of Johns Hopkins who have contributed outstanding service over an extended period to the progress of the University or the activities of the Alumni Association.

Christine, you graduated from Peabody with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice in 1975, studying with Wayne Conner. Today we honor you for your work since then as an exemplary alumna, having given generously of your time, talent and treasure to both Peabody and Johns Hopkins.

We respect and honor the fact that you balance a demanding work life with many dedicated volunteer commitments. You have always kept music as part of your life, including dedicating your talents to Columbia Pro Cantare. After graduation, you shifted focus to a different industry. Realizing your aptitude for finance, you pursued further education, eventually joining Glass Jacobson Investment Advisors. There you have been able to use your unique experience to help fellow musicians better manage their irregular incomes and build stability for the future.

You are generous with your time and resources for the many causes that you value including currently serving as: Treasurer of the Virginia Gildersleeve International Fund; Chairperson for the AAUW Maryland Scholarship Fund; and Chair of the Finance Committee for St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Sykesville.

Looking at all that you do for others, it is even more impressive to note all that you have given to Peabody and Johns Hopkins. You have been an extraordinary volunteer for our organization. You have been a member of the Executive Committee of the Society of Peabody Alumni for 25 years, serving in many leadership roles including a stint as President from 1997-1999. You are a member of the Peabody National Advisory Council, and have served as the official liaison between these two boards for over six years.

You have also been a dedicated volunteer for the larger Johns Hopkins University by serving on the Johns Hopkins Alumni Council for two terms including serving a term as Secretary of the full Johns Hopkins Alumni Association. And you have supported both Peabody and Johns Hopkins as a generous donor.

Christine, for all you have contributed, we are honored to confer upon you the Johns Hopkins University Heritage Award.
