William Matheus Sullivan Musical Foundation competition

Jenni Bank (BM ’06, Voice) mezzo-soprano, was chosen as one of ten winners of the 2011 William Matheus Sullivan Musical Foundation competition, held in Kent, Conn. in November. Each winner was awarded a cash prize of $11,000.

USC New Music for Orchestra competition

Thomas Kotcheff (BM ’10, Piano) was selected as one of the winners of the University of Southern California's New Music for Orchestra competition. His Piano Concerto was performed on Feb. 9 by the USC Thornton Symphony with Kotcheff as the piano soloist.

2012 Lennox International Young Artist Competition

Pianist Yesse Kim, a freshman in Yong Hi Moon's studio, won second prize in 2012 Lennox International Young Artist Competition, presented by the Richardson Symphony in Richardson, Texas, on Jan. 14.

Camerata Virtuosi Young Artists International Competition

Lior Willinger, a sophomore in Yong Hi Moon's studio, won first prize and the audience prize in the Young Artists International Competition by the Orchestra of Camerata Virtuosi New Jersey on January 7. Willinger will perform Prokofiev's third concerto with Camerata Virtuosi New Jersey on April 14, 8:00 pm, at Symphony Space, NYC.

MSMTA Competition

Pianist Patrick Merrill, a junior in the studio of Yong Hi Moon, won first place in the Young Artist division of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association Competition, held in Columbia, Md. John Wilson, a master's student of Marian Hahn, took second place.
